Defib news!

We have received another donation towards our defib project, this time from the Eastington Horse Show.  The extra money means we will be able to purchase a 4th defib unit and hopefully install at St Michael’s Church.  Thank you so much to the local sponsors and helpers who make the Horse Show possible.

We will be asking Community Heartbeat to adopt our defib locations which means they will insure and maintain each of the units on our behalf.  Community Heartbeat will soon be organising a community first aid training session for anyone interested, this will be a 2-hour session offered free to residents – look out for information coming soon.

Defibs purchased for the parish

aed-unitEastington Parish Council is pleased to be able to purchase 3 Automated External Defibrillators for the parish with the assistance of British Heart Foundation, Old Badger Inn and Westend Suites.

Cllr Jill Simmons proposed that the Council purchase 3 defibrillators back in March 2016 and the Old Badger Inn were quick to respond in fundraising towards the units.  The local pub organised an array of fundraising activities and raised a fantastic £3,100 which means we have been able to buy and install the units without using council tax funds.

The defibs were purchased via British Heart Foundation and will be located at the Owen Harris Memorial Ground, Westend Suites and hopefully Co-operative Supermarket.  Funding and listed building restrictions permitting we’d like to install a 4th defib at St Michael’s & All Angels Church.

As part of the package from British Heart Foundation we were given a Call Push Rescue Training Kit and we’ll be putting on free community training in due course.  Training dates/times will be published on our Facebook and Twitter pages.
